The Design Research Symposium, organized by the graduate program in Design Research, part of this year’s Intersections in Process, returns again this October with DesignPhiladelphia, features a discussion with Gabriela Marcu (Drexel Empathic Lab), Nicole Feller Johnson (Design Research student), Daniel Newman (architect and Adjunct Instructor in the graduate program in Interior Architecture & Design Program), and Raja Schaar (Product Design) with moderation by Joshua Longo (Product Design). An exhibition and reception will showcase design research from the Design Futures Lab, Olin Labs, Mio Design, Empathic Research Group, and the URBN STEAMlab.IDEATION and ITERATION, and the keynote panel, Human Centered Exploration, User-Centered Research, User-Centered Reflection. The symposium features a day of free programming that explores the emerging field growing out of collaborations between artists, designers and interdisciplinary collaborators who push the boundaries of traditional disciplines unearthing solutions to practical and aesthetic problems through the mastery of new technologies and intensive research.
